"We believe an acquaintance with the civilizations of Greece and Rome will help us understand and appraise the world of today, which is indebted to the ancient civilization in its government and laws, literature, language, and arts."

Study Latin in France and Italy with Calder Classics!

Calder Classics is an educational boutique that runs Reading Latin programs for high school students in Rome, Florence, and Avignon, each with a different focus. In each of their three sites they offer an interdisciplinary course that is grounded in the reading of Latin literature and its relationship with the area. The Rome program focuses on readings about ancient history, the Florence program focuses on local artistic representations of the Latin authors, and the Avignon program focuses on Caesar and the study of his Gallic War. In each location the classes alternate between reading Latin and visiting sites, chosen because of their relationship to the literature.

This year we have added a new Learning to Read Latin program in Florence for students interested in developing their basic Latin skills, and preparing for more advanced courses in school or with Calder Classics.
