Years in JCL: 4 years in CAJCL Favorite Classical Figure: Domitian Classical Fact: Romans used to eat dormice and other weird foods like flamingo. Favorite Author: Ovid Favorite JCL memory: After convention, the sophomores of the Woodbridge High School Junior Classical League congregated in a singular hotel room and had all sorts of food and fun, with the most fun part being when we all did face masks and all of us guys laughed at how crazy we looked while the girls took pictures to savor the moment when the guys gave into their little scheme and comedic moment, as we waited for the face masks to dry thoroughly. What I love most about SCL: What could be more exciting than Caecilius est in horto? quod the California Senior Classical League est in domo! |

Classical Fact: Emperor Caligula built a pontoon bridge across the Bay of Baiae and rode his horse across the bridge. It is speculated that he did so do because an oracle prophesied that his chance of becoming emperor of Rome was equal to that of riding a horse across the Bay of Baiae. Favorite JCL memory: It was an end of semester bonfire event and I ended up walking along the beach with a friend, talking for at least an hour or more. I'm incredibly thankful for that experience and the friendship that came with it. What I love most about SCL: JCL was a big source of community and happiness for me in high school. I am happy to find that not only in SCL, but to be able to involve myself in a way that allows me to try and give current JCLers a similar experience to my own. |

Years in JCL: 7 years in CAJCL Favorite Classical Figure: Hadrian Classical Fact: Remus is the founder of Rome Favorite Author: Catallus Favorite JCL memory: Going on a shopping spree using Latin club funds because we're shopping for "rewards" for convention. What I love most about SCL: Just getting to spend more time with people I like and getting to volunteer in something I find meaningful. |

Years in JCL: 4 years in CAJCL Favorite Classical Figure: Incitatus Classical Fact: Dude is speculated to want to make his horse a consul. Nice. Favorite Author: Catullus Favorite JCL memory: Every and all! One I definitely remember though was riding the chariot we built during state convention. If you count hanging onto dear life from a wooden slab and two tiny wheels as "riding a chariot". Building a catapult that didn't throw backwards is a close second. What I love most about SCL: Being able to continue being involved in JCL after high school! I love being able to stay connected with so many friends and amazing people. |
